Since its founding in 2016, AFME has been dedicated to advancing music education by connecting scholarly inquiry with educational practice. Our achievements have been made possible through the vision, commitment, and leadership of our former presidents, executive officers, and members. The culture of mutual respect, shared learning, and collaborative scholarship that we have cultivated together remains one of AFME’s greatest strengths.

As technological innovation and digital transformation continue to reshape education and society, music education faces both new challenges and exciting opportunities. These changes encourage us to reflect on the enduring values of music education while exploring new possibilities for research, teaching, and collaboration. Building on the strong foundation established by our community, AFME is well positioned to contribute meaningfully to these emerging conversations.

During my term, AFME will continue to support research that addresses the evolving needs of learners and society. We will seek to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration across music education, music theory, music informatics, AI-related music research, and other relevant fields. At the same time, we will work to deepen engagement among our members and further connect research with educational practice so that our scholarship can have a meaningful impact both within and beyond academia.

The vitality and growth of AFME depend on the active participation of its members. Your ideas, expertise, and dedication are essential to the continued development of our association.
